Oak Porches Online is a small family joinery firm in Worcestershire. Every porch we sell is drawn, cut and dry-fitted in our own workshop by people who’ve spent their working lives at the bench — and when you email or ring, it’s one of them who answers.

The workshop

We work from a single unit at Harris Business Park in Stoke Prior, just outside Bromsgrove. It’s a working joinery shop, not a showroom: planers, saws, benches, oak stacked to season, and usually a frame or two standing on the floor waiting to be checked. You’re welcome to visit by arrangement before you order — more than one customer has come to look and ordered on the spot.

What we make, and how

Green oak porch kits, cut to your measurements. Every frame is drawn to scale first, so you see exactly what you’re getting. Then it’s cut, jointed with pegged mortice and tenons, and dry-fitted on the workshop floor — the whole porch standing — before it’s taken apart, numbered and packed. What arrives on your drive has already been built once.

We sell kits rather than fitting, because a well-made kit with clear drawings is something most builders, and plenty of confident DIYers, can put up in a day. It keeps the price sensible and lets us deliver anywhere in the country from the one workshop.

Why oak

Because it does what it’s always done. Green oak is cut while the timber still holds moisture, jointed tight, and left to season in place; as it dries it locks the pegged joints harder. It silvers with weather if you let it, or holds its colour with a coat of oil. The porches on buildings four hundred years old were made this way, and ours are made the same way.

How we work with you

You design your porch online, in our own designer, and see the drawing and the price change as you adjust the numbers. When you order, we send the drawings for you to check. Then it’s cut, checked, and delivered kerbside with a numbered packing list. If anything’s unclear at any stage, you talk to the people who made it.
